Khirki is a three-piece band from Athens, Greece sharing its essence with rock 'n' roll and traditional music of their place of origin.
Κίρκη - Circe pronounced [kírkɛː] - was a sorceress in Greek mythology best known for transforming Odysseus’ crew into animals with her magical wine. Inspired by the mythological enchantress, after reaping the grapes of metal/rock culture (Kvelertak, Mastodon, Tool, etc.) the band has created an original, sweet tasting drink, properly aged in many live stages, ready to be served with their first full-length album "Κτηνωδία".
Combining influences is a popular game, but picking out the right ones and making it work is another story. Khirki made a name for them in bringing together experimental heavy rock with south European folk music, under a spectrum of fresh optics. “Κτηνωδία” (2021) did a splash in the affiliate underground, sold out the first vinyl edition quickly and is now re-pressed (also on CD and cassette for the first time). In 2024, their sophomore full-length release, “Κυκεώνας,” marked a step forward in both style and production, showcasing thicker guitar work, sharper hooks, and fearless musical choices.
